Halloween.................

Halloween... Hmm I have never really enjoyed this holiday. As a kid I was never really outgoing so I would not go trick or treating. And now, I feel dumb going up to people's doors asking for candy when I now shave consistently. I feel like it is a pointless holiday because I feel like it is just an excuse to dress up weird and nobody really knows what the holiday really means. Dont like it. Never liked it. Maybe someday I will but I doubt it.

Prescription Painkiller Controversy

There are a few different controversies involving prescription painkiller addiction. First of all, how the addiction affects the users themselves. The user may find it as just a hobby for a while and may say they are not addicted when an expert really says they are. Also, sometimes the addicted person will blame the doctor for giving them the pills and making them become an addict. While some people know they are addicted and want help but keep relapsing and using the drugs again. So those are some of the ways the addicted person themselves feel about the addiction.
There is also controversy on how the people around the addicted person are affected. First, some people try and hide the problem all together so they are not embarrassed about the situation. Others will try to ignore the problem and say there isn't even a problem and will not try and get that person help. Others will try too hard to control the addicted persons life so that they cannot go out and use the drug again.
Finally, in the news today the rate of prescription painkillers distributed in the United Stateshas gone up drastically correlating with recent studies that show there is a large rise in people who are abusing prescription painkillers. So who is to blame for this? The doctors? Other countries who see it is more popular so therefore are making and selling more? The US for not controlling and watching this more closely?

Mrs. Micikas

I think listening to Mrs. Micikas was a great lesson for us and just her story was very impacting. It is hard for us to imagine life like she had and then to go out into the world with basically no ability to make moral decisions. It just shows how much God cares about every single one of us and no matter what is going on in our lives, He will always call us back to Him which I find so comforting. To see her now and what a strong faith she has and the way she lives her life with such a servant attitude, I could never have guessed her past to be like that.

The Voysey Inheritance

I thought The Voysey Inheritance was just alright. I felt like everything was about money conflict and there was too much yelling, which I dont appreciate either of. I feel like though if I were more interested in money and business that the play may have been more appealing to me. I thought it was cool though to see all the behind the scenes stuff and just a view into people's lives because we often don't get to see that. I liked what people had to say yesterday in class and I am glad we cleared up the character situation because that tended to distract me throughout the play. I feel like it may have helped us understand the play better if we learned or talked about it first, but I also would have lost interest even before going into the play because I am not interested in that subject too much. But overall, I liked getting to walk around and see all those rooms before the play. So I would say the day wasn't too bad and I enjoyed myself.

The Green Mile- Movie response

I feel that this movie portrays a very strong Christian worldview. A man is accused of a murder that he didn't commit, when he was actually trying to save the girls. Throughout the movie he takes pain away from people and puts it on himself, as did Jesus with all of our sin. He heals people and dies for something he did not do, but did what was right in a sinful world. I definitely agree with this worldview but find it very hard to live in this sinful world. It is so hard to do the right thing when you know it will maybe put you in a tough situation.

Homecoming!

I think that homecoming as a whole is a pretty fun process. I feel like that it should bring the school closer together where it usually makes the classes feel separated which seems to separate the school. I know in history that the seniors should just like be all "macho" and be mean to the freshman but I feel like at our school this should not be the case. I feel like we should do activities as a school that bonds us as one and doesn't separate the classes.

Question of the Week..

Do you think it is more valid or right to abuse your own prescription of painkillers like vicodin rather than abusing some at a party or somebody elses vicodin?

I think it is wrong either way, they are both very dangerous situations but depending on where they are used, it may be safer to abuse your own prescription in your home. Because if you abuse them at a party or something, it is unsafe to drive home or run the risk of passing out in a strangers home, especially for women.

Song Analysis- The Joker by Steve Miller Band

I believe this song is about the journey of a very popular man or band member who goes around sleeping with girls. He knows all the tricks about love and how to get them and makes them feel loved. But then he just leaves and makes them mad and gives himself a bad name. But he doesn't care because he enjoys smoking weed and loving women wherever he goes.

I like the music because I love oldies music and of course Steve Miller Band. Also I went to a concert of theirs 2 years ago at Red Rocks and it is like their biggest hit and just a fun song.

I like the lyrics somewhat. I have never really paid attention to what they mean till now so I would say I just like the way he sings it and he makes them feel loved, at least for a while.

I think this song might be troubling to a lot of women because it just makes them feel used and the guy goes off living his rock star life without consequence. Also a "midnight toker" refers to smoking weed so people might take offense to that.

Some people call me the space cowboy, yeah
Some call me the gangster of love
Some people call me Maurice
Cause I speak of the pompitus of love.
People talk about me, baby
Say I'm doin' you wrong, doin' you wrong
Well, don't you worry baby
Don't worry Cause I'm right here, right here, right here,
right here at home

Cause I'm a picker
I'm a grinner
I'm a lover
And I'm a sinner
I play my music in the sun.
I'm a joker
I'm a smoker
I'm a midnight toker
I get my loving on the run Wooo Woooo

You're the cutest thing
That I ever did see
I really love your peaches
Wanna shake your tree.
a Lovey-dovey, lovey-dovey, lovey-dovey all the time
Ooo-eee baby, I'll sure show you a good time

Cause I'm a picker
I'm a grinner
I'm a lover
And I'm a sinner
I play my music in the sun
I'm a joker
I'm a smoker
I'm a midnight toker
I sure don't want to hurt no one Wooo Wooooo

Wooo Wooo
People keep talking about me baby
They say I'm doin' you wrong
Well don't you worry, don't worry, no don't worry mama
Cause I'm right here at home
You're the cutest thing I ever did see
Really love your peaches wanna shake your tree
Lovey-dovey, lovey-dovey, lovey-dovey all the time
Come on baby and I'll show you a good time
